Brookside Inn B&B opened in 1999, but the history starts a century earlier. The house was originally built by the U.S. Army at Fort Liscum, present day site of the Trans Alaskan Oil Pipeline Marine Terminal. Built in 1898, as an administration and officers quarters. The army was sent toValdez / Prince William Sound to map and survey a route into the interior of Alaska. Once the Army had fulfilled its mission the land and facilities were sold to the local residents.
The house was then barged to what is now "Old Town Valdez". Surviving the 1964 9.6 earthquake and tsunami, the house was moved to it's current location in 1969. Has been through several renovations and is finally living up to the old pioneer spirit of Alaska.
The Brookside Inn B&B is currently being managed and operated by Suzy and Jerry McDonald. My Parents. Having lived in Valdez for 14 years they have seen and done just about everything there is to do in Alaska. Running a fun and adventurous bed and breakfast just completes the list of Alaskan Adventures.
Please come and visit and stay awhile with Suzy and Jerry. Their world travels, outdoor adventures and Alaskan tales will make your visit all that more enjoyable and memorable. While your there say " Hello" from their son Chris. Tell them to treat you right, keep the coffee hot and the bears and eagles just a few steps away for your viewing enjoyment.
Have a pleasant and welcoming stay at the Brookside Inn B&B and a wonderful Alaskan Adventure.
Best wishes and safe travels, Chris & Jill McDonald
